In a move that really should come as a surprise to no one, Affliction Entertainment has announced they will cease promoting mixed martial arts competition, and will instead become an official sponsor of the UFC.

Affliction Clothing, once the predominant t-shirt sponsor of the UFC’s top fighters, will once again be welcome inside the UFC Octagon.

Exact details of the arrangement between Affliction and the UFC are not known at this time other than the fact that Affliction will be recognized as an official UFC sponsor.

Reports were swirling today that Strikeforce was in talks with Affliction about a potential buy-out or merger, but apparently those talks stalled.

What happens to the fighters that were under contract with Affliction is unknown. The two possibilities are that the UFC will have the option to buy certain fighters contract rights, or that the fighters will once again become free agents.
