Times Have Changed By The Bay

The Raiders and 49ers have gone from winning a combined 3 Super Bowls from 1980-84 to having a combined 2 #1  overall draft picks from 2005-07.  These teams took diferent paths on the road to success.  The 49ers had Bill Walsh's style while the Raiders had the fiery, foul-mouth Jon Madden.  These teams have become alike in the last several years: coaching changes, QB shuffles, bad owners (at least Al Davis has history on his side with 3 Super Bowl rings), and these teams both lack leaders.  But these teams are once again becoming different as they approach the light at the end of the long tunnel.  Tom Cable is using players who put the team ahead of themselves by re-signing the core players and Namdi and Shane Lechler.  Cable is making the players believe in themselves and in each other.  Singletary is scaring the players into being better players.  With Vernon Davis as the example, Singletary has brought toughness to a weak team.  Will it be another long year by the bay or will one of these teams, or both, return to glory?
