Be prepared for a long one, folks.
I'm predicting everything! Awards, standings, breakout players.
Everything.
You see the man pictured, Adrian Peterson?
He's your MVP.
We'll cover that. Eventually.
Let's start with some standings, shall we?
From there, we'll go the Playoffs, Super Bowl Champ, Pro Bowl Roster, and Awards!
Quick Michael Vick Prediction: He signs with Jacksonville. Just a guess.
AFC North Standings
1. Pittsburgh Steelers: 12-4
Last year saw the Steelers raising the Lombardi Trophy. They will have much success this year, as well. Roethlisberger will ignore his off the field troubles and play well, with the vaunted Steelers defense helping him return to the playoffs.
2. Baltimore Ravens: 9-7
Sophomore Slump? It's in Joe Flacco's future. Yes, the defense will help carry the slack again in Baltimore, but without a legitimate No.1 WR in Baltimore, Flacco will struggle. Still, they have a winning record and make the playoffs.
3. Cincinnati Bengals: 6-10
Not all is bad for the Bengals, as Carson Palmer finally returns to form. Unfortunately, the defense is about as bad as a Ron Artest rap single, and they blow several high scoring contests.
4. Cleveland Browns: 5-11
Things aren't pretty in Cleveland. Pretty Boy Brady Quinn improves, but still doesn't show superstar ability. All in all, the Browns have the most work to do when the season is over.
AFC East Standings
1. New England Patriots: 12-4
Terrific Tom returns to his terrific self, throwing a terrific quantity of touchdowns. Jerod Mayo proves to be a tackling machine on defense, and Stephen Gostkowski becomes the last-second clutch kicker that New England has missed.
2. Buffalo Bills: 8-8
It's another mediocre year in Buffalo. The addition of Terrell Owens helped the offense, but they just weren't able to put it together. Key players for the Bills in the season included Lee Evans and Donte Whitner.
3. Miami Dolphins: 7-9
The Dolphins took a step back, as teams started to take advantage of Chad Pennington's noodle arm. OK, so he's not that bad, but I think the future in Miami is Chad Henne. He gets some time late in the year after a Pennington injury, and does the most with it.
4. New York Jets: 6-10
Mark Sanchez takes his lumps in his rookie season, but overall has a pretty solid year. The defense disappoints, as while Darrelle Revis proves himself to be an elite CB, 2008 draft pick Vernon Gholston continues to be a disappointment.
AFC South Standings
1. Indianapolis Colts: 11-5
The Colts reign supreme in the AFC South behind the reliable Peyton Manning. Donald Brown runs for more yardage than Joseph Addai, making his case for the starting job. Jim Caldwell does a fine job in replacing Tony Dungy.
2. Houston Texans: 10-6
The surprise team of the season, the Houston Texans! Although I may be a bit biased, I really think the Texans will be able to put their tools together to reach a playoff birth.
3. Tennessee Titans: 8-8
The Titans stumble this year, as Kerry Collins struggles through the season. Chris Johnson and LenDale White continue to form a dangerous combo, but overall, the season ends in disappointment.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-12
The Jags aren't a bad team by any means, but the injury bug hits them this season, as Maurice Jones-Drew falls to injury early.
David Garrard goes down just a short time later, leaving the Jaguars without a viable QB option. The season ends in chaos, and rumors of relocation haunt the Jacksonville faithful.
AFC West Standings
1. San Diego Chargers: 13-3
He's back! Ladainian Tomlinson returns to his usual self, coming in third in rushing yards. Philip Rivers shows himself to be a solid QB, and Vincent Jackson proves to be a stud WR.
2. Kansas City Chiefs: 7-9
Matt Cassel plays like he did in New England, but the pieces around him aren't quite good enough to replicate the team success that Cassel saw in the previous season.
3. Oakland Raiders: 6-10
It's not all bad for Oakland. JaMarcus Russell plays like he was supposed to, and Darrius Heyward-Bey turns out to be a solid option at WR. Michael Bush and Darren McFadden form one of the best duo's at RB.
4. Denver Broncos: 4-12
It's a mess in Denver. After trading Jay Cutler, new coach Josh McDaniels leads his new look team to an abysmal record.
Brandon Marshall continues to complain about being traded, and frankly, the season is a disaster for the Broncos.
NFC North Standings
1. Minnesota Vikings: 13-3
Here's the prediction that will be found out tomorrow. My guess is that Brett Favre will return, and I think he will do a pretty good job, leading the Vikings to a playoff birth.
MVP Adrian Peterson rushes for over 1,800 yards, and it's a solid season for the Vikings.
2. Green Bay Packers: 10-6
Favre's former team, the Packers, play very well under the leadership of Aaron Rodgers, who proves himself to be an elite QB.
3. Chicago Bears: 9-7
Jay Cutler leads the team to a solid record, but they fall just short of a playoff birth. Matt Forte experiences a sophomore slump, rushing for under 1,000 yards.
4. Detroit Lions: 5-11
The Lions still aren't ready to contend, but they have a few pieces to the puzzle. Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith, Ernie Sims, and Louis Delmas all perform well for Detroit.
Matthew Stafford gets time at the end of the season, and looks like a future starting NFL QB. Go figure.
NFC East Standings
1. Philadelphia Eagles: 13-3
Donovan McNabb leads the Eagles to victory. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin combine to provide a speedy WR tandem, and the defense holds its ground.
2. New York Giants: 9-7
It's not a bad year for the Giants, but a few close games cost them a chance at going to the postseason. Eli Manning looks like his brother this season, leading the team well.
One surprise player? Kenny Phillips, who proves to be an elite safety.
3. Washington Redskins: 8-8
It's another average showing for the Redskins. The Jason Campbell experiment ends for the Daniel Snyder owned team, as he continues to perform poorly. Still, the team manages to post a .500 record.
4. Dallas Cowboys: 7-9
The Cowboys struggle during the season, with injuries to DeMarcus Ware and Jason Witten. Still, at the end of the season things come together, and the Cowboys look to shine in the 2010 season.
NFC South Standings
1. Carolina Panthers: 12-4
Despite the poor play of Jake Delhomme, the Panthers perform well, especially behind their running attack. Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart combine for 35 TDs, and the team makes a run to the postseason.
2. Atlanta Falcons: 10-6
It's not a perfect year in Atlanta, but they will take it. Matt Ryan performs well, but struggles at times. Roddy White shows himself to be an elite WR in the NFL.
3. New Orleans Saints: 10-6
The Saints play well behind Drew Brees, who breaks Dan Marino's passing yardage record, yet they fall short of qualifying for the playoffs. Reggie Bush improves this season, and Jeremy Shockey returns to his old self.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 3-13
Yuck. The Bucs, who are led by Byron Leftwich, struggle in the season.
Two bright spots for the Bucs are Gaines Adams and Josh Freeman, who gets time at the end of the season, but the Bucs show the look of defeated pirates when the season dwindles down.
NFC West Standings
1. Arizona Cardinals: 9-7
Let's be honest; the Cardinals aren't going to the Super Bowl again. But they do make the playoffs in a weak division. Larry Fitzgerald helps to break the Madden Curse. Chris Wells makes his case for NFL Rookie of the Year.
2. Seattle Seahawks: 8-8
The Seahawks come up just short of making the post season. Coach Jim Mora Jr. leads the Seahawks to a .500 record, but the Seahawks start looking for a QB in the future as Matt Hasselbeck shows that he is beginning to fade off.
3. San Francisco 49ers: 6-10
Alex Smith. Remember him? He's back! He finally shows why he should have been the No.1 pick in the 2005 Draft, but it's a little late, as he makes his return in Week 11. Michael Crabtree struggles in his rookie year, however.
4. St. Louis Rams: 2-14
Sorry, Rams fans. They aren't any better. They're getting there, though, with a few young players primed to make a difference in the future. A few of those players include Chris Long, Donnie Avery, Jason Smith, and, of course, Steven Jackson.
