Im new to all this so laugh at me if u want, but i feel as if these will be the final standings in the SEC:
East
1.Georgia-Dawgs win the SEC and the national title as well, but schedule and BCS may keep them out of it
2.Florida-Just as good as UGA, but they have to win against em in Jacksonville to win the East
3.South Carolina- Surprise team of the SEC, but still will have 4 losses or more overall (UGA, UF, LSU, CLEMSON)
4. Tennessee- No Erik Ainge could mean trouble for Vols, and road games will take toll
5.Kentucky-Good year last year, but no Andre Woodson means hole at QB and rough year in Lexington
6.Vanderbilt-As usual, bringin up the rear and schedule will pound Commodores with road games at UGA and UF, and thats just the start of it...
West
1.Auburn- With no Perrilloux and easier schedule, home win against LSU clinches West, and they may not lose at home, though Deep South's Oldest Rivalry lingers (UGA)
2.LSU-No Perrilloux means a huge hole for Bayou Bengals, and with tough schedule, lose control of West... I dont think it will happen, but watch out for App. State
3.Alabama-Good year for the Tide, and depending on what happens, the Iron Bowl could be West Championship
4.Mississippi State-Good year for Croom and the Bulldogs...make another bowl game and could sneak up on a few teams
5.Ole Miss-With Nutt's first year, it will be slow but they could win some big games
6.Arkansas-No McCfadden, no Jones means big trouble for Hogs, and Petrino's first year will be rough
Actually I think UT will be weaker b/c of the departure of David Cutcliffe, to hell with Erik Ainge. LSU will be better off without Perrilloux. And yes, watch out for App St. can't have an SEC school become the laughing stock of the nation.
Good article Chris. I think you hit the nail on the head for the most part. The game betwen the DAWGS and Gators should be a great one, and I do think Auburn will be there at the end. We both know, given the tough SEC scehdules, that injuries could play a major part in this season. I can't wait for it to roll! Keep on writing!
