Queneville Out As Avs Coach, Leafs Next?

Various media outlets are reporting that the Colorado Avalanche and head coach Joel Queneville will part ways.

Queneville was the Avalanche coach for three seasons.

This is news for Leafs Nation because there has long been rumblings, since the Paul Maurice speculation began, that Fletcher coveted Queneville for the Maple Leafs head coaching job, and has been mentioned by various people as a candidate.

Nonis To Meet With Leafs Next Week

According to several sources the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dave Nonis will meet sometime next week to discuss the vacant general manager's position.

Nonis is to date, the first person interviewed for the job.

Newsbits from Andy Strickland

Andy Strickland of EPSN radio has reported the news on Queneville, saying the Leafs will very likely focus their attention on bringing him in to coach the Leafs.

He also said he has heard that the New York Rangers will offer Mats Sundin a $7 million dollar deal this summer.

He also goes on to say that a former NHL executive told him that Brian Burke "wants to be in Toronto so bad he would crawl on his belly all the way from California to get there."
