Jackson put the Rays in a great position to win heading into the bottom of the 9th. With the Rays up 3-0, they called on closer Troy Percival to finish the game. Percival who hadn't allowed one run all season, gave up three including a two run home run by Vernon Wells.
The Rays looked done in the 10th as the Jays were able to load the bases against Relief Pitcher Dan Wheeler. However, Wheeler was able to escape by striking out the side.
The Rays took the lead in the top of the 13th, on a sac fly by Carl Crawford. However, they iced the game later on in the inning when catcher Dioner Navarro who went 3 for 6 in the game, hit a grand slam with two outs. It was Navarro's first home run of the year.
