Interesting NFL Logos

It is getting late, and I find myself bored once again.

I decided to take a look at some old logos for some NFL teams, and some new logos that were rejected. I soon found out I had compiled quite a list of these. It was time for a slide show!

Some of these are pretty goofy because they are so old, while others (like the Seahawks) logo are really awesome, and better than the one they have now.

Take a few minutes and scroll through some of these amazing logos, and comment on which one is your favorite, and if teams should switch from their current logo.

Baltimore Colts

Many people recognize this logo from the old Baltimore Colts.

I actually have a shirt like this, and you can find many of them here in Indy. I like this one, but this is just the beginning.

Boston Patriots

Display_image

This one may look familiar too.

The new/old New England Patriots logo of this same character appear in places today. It was from this classic logo of the Boston Patriots that this guy came from. I think it looks pretty cool.

Buffalo Bills 1965

This one is somewhat strange to say the least.

Why is there a guy running right next to the buffalo? Of course this comes from the sixties, so we can all just laugh at this one and move on.

Chicago Cardinals 1954

Display_image

This one caught my eye for sure, and yes, that is the Chicago Cardinals.

Pretty good design for the early fifties and maybe even better than Arizona's logo they use today. I like the thinking for this one.

Cincinnati Bengals

Display_image

This one is somewhat basic, but still pretty cool.

These were before the days of the bad boy Bengals, but anything with a tiger on it will make for an awesome logo.

Cleveland Browns 1960

Display_image

Obviously this one is from the early years.

The Browns actually have a worse logo today if you can imagine that. This one is better, and perhaps if they changed it, they could win some games this year.

Dallas Cowboys 1969

Display_image

I have to say this is one of my favorites.

I love this one obviously because it's funny seeing a Cowboy with chaps riding a goofy looking horse. The thing that makes it funnier is imagining that it is Tony Romo on the saddle. Yeee haww Tony!

Denver Broncos

Display_image

This one is similar to the Cowboys and Baltimore logo with the horse.

The drawings of the horses must catch my eye because those seem to be the funniest to me. Same basic idea here, so I thought I would go with this one instead of the old "D" logo that Elway had.

Detroit Lions 1953

Display_image

Talk about a turnaround here.

It's been a long time since that championship year in 1953. The 0-16 Lions recently changed/tweaked their logo, but maybe they should have considered putting this one on the helmet instead. Sorry Stafford.

Houston Oilers

Display_image

We all remember the old Oilers.

This was always a cool logo to me, but I can't really defend my reasoning here. Any thoughts as to why this is appealing to anyone else? It might just be me.

Kansas City Chiefs

Display_image

Pretty cool giant chief running all over the Midwest.

I like this one a lot, but nothing beats the arrowhead they have right now. This one was pretty simple, but still really cool.

L.A. Dons 1946

Display_image

Sorry L.A. this is not your new team.

That may be a good thing though, judging by the look on this character's face. The Dons may have been a good team in the forties, but their logo probably won't be used in today's society.

New York Giants 1950

Display_image

Nothing major really stands out about this one, but I like it.

The city on the bottom is a nice touch, and picturing Eli posing up there in that Giants gear makes me chuckle. The New York Football Giants is also a great addition.

New York Titans

Display_image

Don't turn on ESPN Tennessee fans; you didn't lose your team.

That's all New York needs is another team anyway. These New York Titans must have been pretty intimidating judging by the guy on this logo. Strange color choice though.

Philadelphia Eagles

Display_image

Everyone knows this bird.

I think the Eagles have always had an awesome logo, no matter what era. This classic logo has always been cool to me, and they one they currently have is also pretty tight. Props to the design people for Philly!

Pittsburgh Steelers 1954

Display_image

This one is funny and cool in my mind.

It seems pretty cool because it is so simple and clean. The thing that gets me smiling though is the guy leaning over holding a flag that says "1954". Do you know anyone that has a flag with the year on it?

San Diego Chargers

Display_image

Now this is one I think should still be used today.

Instead of that fearsome lightning bolt, they should switch it up and go to this. I like the horse/dragon/bronco looking animal with the shield. The colors match great and the "Chargers" looks really good on the front. Switch it up San Diego!

San Francisco 49ers 1969

Display_image

Strange looking, but also creative.

The placing of the "49" is a nice touch, but the SF and the little gold football at the top are a little boring for my taste. The logo they have now and have had in the recent years isn't much better. Time for a new design guys.

Seattle Seahawks

Display_image

Easily my favorite of the entire bunch.

Tell me this isn't the best looking logo you've seen. This bad ass bird is so amazing looking. Supposedly, the Seahawks were going to use this last year, but they decided not to at the last minute. Why not??? This is so much better than the current Seahawk. I simply love this one.

St. Louis Cardinals

Display_image

In case you are wondering, this isn't the new baseball team's logo.

This seems very similar to the Chicago Cardinals' logo as shown previously. The added Arch gives it a great hometown feel. The Cardinal is the same basic character, but it still looks great, even being so simple.

Washington Redskins

Display_image

Decent looking helmet, same nasty colors.

I am not a big fan of mustard yellow helmets, much less having maroon splattered all over them, but this one isn't that bad. The simple "R" logo with the feathers on the back are a pretty nice touch. Not bad, not bad.
