Another game and another dominating win by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 edition of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While watching this year’s playoff games, I have come to the conclusion that the team that handles special teams the best is the one that is going to win nine out 10 times.
Not to say the power play doesn't make a difference in the regular season, but in the playoffs it just means that much more to be up or down a man.
The Wings showed this importance by scoring three of their four goals on the power play. An outstanding display of offense by the Wings, in all respect for the Stars, meant this game was over at the end of the first period.
How both teams handle the power play will be huge, but with what I have seen so far, I expect to see more of the same this series.
The Wings owned the Stars during the regular season, and owned them in game one of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night. Franzen continues to dominate games, scoring yet another playoff goal this evening.
The only way Dallas will be able to make this series last more than five games is if they are able to play a man up for large portions of the coming games. The power play will make or break this series, as it will in the Eastern Conference as well.
The only way that Dallas and Philadelphia will be able to continue their Cinderella type runs is if they can stay out of the box.
