Thanks to everyone who continues to participate in the trivia tournament!

Here are the answers from last week.

 

1. (Two points) Alexander Ovechkin left the gold medal WJC game in 2005...why?

Shoulder injury.

 

2. (Five points) What country was the 2005 WJC gold medal game referee from (game was Russia vs. Canada)?

USA

 

3. (Three points) Who holds the record for most career World Junior Championship goals (with Team Canada) and with how many?

Jeff Carter, Lindros, Tavares, 12.

 

4. (Three points) What number did Sidney Crosby wear in the 2005 World Junior Championships?

9

 

5. (Two points) Which CHL defenseman broke records while on the London Knights in 2004-05?

Danny Syvret

 

6. (Three points) Who lead the 1995 Memorial Cup tournament in points and with how many?

Shane Doan, nine points.

 

7. (One point) How many points did Eric Lindros have in the 1989-90 NAHL season before being promoted to the Oshawa Generals?

52 points in 14 games

 

8. (Two points) Who led the WCJHL in scoring in the 1968-69 season and what team did he play for?

Bobby Clarke (137), Flin Flon Bombers

 

9. (Nine points each) Who were the only two players in NHL history that refused to don their draft team’s jersey as the No. 1 overall pick?

Eric Lindros and Mario Lemieux

 

10. (Four points) Who was the only draft pick in NHL history to have the pick cancelled because of ineligibility?

Robin Kovar, Edmonton Oilers, fourth round 2002.

(That Japanese guy wasn't a suspended pick, it was just invalid).

 

Bonus: (Six points) Name four tests prospects must go through at the Scouting Combine (at least one must be a cardio test).

Everyone who answered this got it right.

 

Bonus II (Five points): On the screen, a man appears holding a ball and the player must push the right button to show what hand the ball is in.  The man appears in different directions, upside down, backwards, etc.
