The San Antonio Spurs perhaps the greatest basketball team of the decade,winning 4 NBA titles,but they are not a dynasty!
The Spurs first NBA title came the 1999,42 game shortended season vs the 8th seeded New York Knicks.If you include all the playoff and Finals games, the Spurs played a whopping 67 games the entire season. Fifteen more games and you would actually have enough to complete a normal regular season.
Though it was not the Spurs' fault that the league decided to lock out.It is an insult to all the champions past and present who played a full schedule to ignore that the Spurs got off real easy.
Duncan and Co. never had to face a team like Magics Lakers like MJ did,or Birds Celtics like Magic did,they had the luxury of playing mediorce teams,in a mediorce era
In order to be a dynasty you need to repeat,or atleast go back and defend your title! the Spurs have not even made consecutive trips to the Conference Finals much less the NBA Finals.
The Los Angeles Lakers from 1980-1991 made 9 NBA Finals appearances,winning 5 of them,The Chicago Bulls won 3 straight twice! and it probably would of been more had not Michael Jordan retired in 1994,The Detroit Pistons 1986-1991 made 5 straight Conference Finals appearances winning 2 NBA Titles.
The Spurs are a very good basketball team,but they have a long way to go before they can be mentioned in the elite company of the NBA'S elite.
