At first glance, an even record in May for the Yankees is probably not what the team, players, coaches, and especially the fans expected.

They came in with high hopes with Generation K on the team and the return of Posada, A-Rod, and Bobby in the lineup.

Yet something has gone wrong with them and not many people can understand why.

Cano is hitting around .150, Joba has 2 career losses, Posada and A-Rod are both injured-something seems to be going on and not too many people know what to do.

Was using Joe Girardi a good idea? Were the kids thrown in too early? Was it worth missing a chance for Johan Santana?

These are all second-guess questions that many people are going to ask. But before we go and criticize, let us actually look back and see why the Yankees are at an even record and why we shouldn't hit the "PANIC NOW!" button. 

First, let's analyze the season. I think it's become obvious the Yankees' hitting is inconsistent. Help is coming, though, so let's NOT push the panic button.

Posada and A-Rod are on their way back to the team soon. And those lefty pitchers really can't do too much damage with an A-Rod and a switch-hitting Posada stopping them, or trying to anyway. That will put some consistency back into order.

  1. Cano is a slow starter. Give him a month, and he'll be raking. Hughes was pitching hurt and Kennedy really isn't as bad as he looked. To be fair, Kennedy isn't as good as many people expected him to be either.
