The Albuquerque Isotopes stretched their lead in the PCL southern division to two games after AJ Ellis hit a pinch-hit single. It was a weird night at Isotopes park. First it was hot, then it started to rain and then it got windy. That's New Mexico weather for you.
The Zephyrs took an early lead in the second when John Lindsy hit a home run off the scoreboard in center field. Then in the third Clay Hensley hit a home run over the Raylee Homes sign in left field.
The Isotopes would answer back in the fourth. Isotopes starting pitcher Charlie Haeger would start things off with a single. Then Tony Abreu and Mitch Jones also single and Jones swipes second.
Then Brett Harper, who joined the team today, doubled. When it was all said and done the Isotopes would put four runs on the board.
It looked like Charlie Haeger was in line for the win but the Zephyrs would come back and take the lead in the sixth, 7-6.
In the eighth Luis Maza and Dee Brown would score to give the Isotopes the lead again 8-7. The Zephyrs would tie it up by a sacrifice fly by Gaby Sanchez.
The Isotopes would come to bat in the ninth. Harper singled and was pinch ran for by Sergio Garcia. Juan Gonzalez moved Garcia to second with a sacrifice bunt. Chin Lung Hu singled and Garcia moved to third. Ellis singled and Garcia scored. The Isotopes won with a walk-off single 9-8.
Jason Schmidt will start for the Dodgers on Monday.
