NFL, Shaun Alexander, Editorial

One of the top running backs in the league, and for many years the center piece of the Seahawks franchise, Shaun Alexander has almost ten thousand rushing yards, over a hundred touchdowns, and was on a Madden cover.

But, after being unexpectedly released earlier this offseason, he has been looking into other teams. For example, he has visited New Orleans and Cincinnati. There has also been reports that he has talked with the Broncos.

But which jersey will he be wearing next year?

If he were wearing a Saints jersey next year, how does this work?

With Reggie Bush and a past-his-prime Deuce McAllister, where would Shaun Alexander fit into this equation?

Well, I just can't picture it happening and I do not think the Saints will have Alexander for the 2008 season.

Next, the Bengals, with an, in his prime, Rudi Johnson, where would Alexander fit here?

I don't think he would unless the Bengals decided to trade him, but I think that possibility is too remote.

Lastly, the Broncos probably need a running back more then any other of the teams I mentioned, but Travis Henry is a decent back and at times can do damage.

Alexander would fit well into the Broncos roster, too bad that's the one team he hasn't visited yet.

Also, a couple questions for you, who would you rather have on your team, Henry or Alexander, or, Alexander or any of the Saints backs?

Where do you think he will go?

  1. He'll be lucky if anybody picks him up. He has been terrible the last two seasons.

Seattle made the right move by cutting him. Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett can carry the load better than he did last year.

    1. I agree, but who knows? Maybe he can pick it up soon.

  2. He won"t be in Seattle... He has been released. Denver has the best style offense for him.

Also have Indy, NE, and Chicago looking into him....

  3. Alexander hasn't been 100% the past two seasons...if he's healthy again, I think he has a couple of good seasons left in him. You're talking about a probable Hall of Famer with the stats he has, the MVP, Super Bowl birth, etc. I do think the Broncos would be the best fit...but considering Deuce McAllister has had surgery on BOTH of his knees and Reggie Bush is a freakin' bust, I could see the Saints getting SA.

  4. I disagree on Deuce McAllister being past his prime. He's only 29 and has been plagued with ACL problems the past few seasons, but he's definitely not past his prime. In 2006 (his last season being 100%) he rushed for over 1,000 yards with 10 touchdowns and one of the best seasons of his career productivity wise (4.3 yards per carry). Excluding Deuce's rookie season he rushed for over 1,050 yards in each season that he was healthy. He is a high caliber player and will be for seasons to come.

  5. Shaun Alexander will be the best running back ever to play the game, a league mvp, and a great person thats all that matters the 12th man is here baby!!!
