New York Baseball: Is The Pitching Worse than the Yankee Curse?

Tim Sweeney is not happy that the Yankees are pulling Red-Sox shirts out of concrete, and not pulling concrete wins out on the field.

New York Yankees

Here we are in another baseball season, and the Yankees seem to be in a tailspin. In the spirit of full disclosure, I feel that I must tell you that I am a Yankees fan.

I just don't know what's going on with this team. Hank Steinbrenner's mouth must be the same size as his shoe, because that's where his foot seems to be!

This reminds me of the days when George was the center of the Yankee Universe, and the team was known more for what was said off the diamond than what was going on between the lines.

The shirt buried at the new stadium became such a tedious thing. Yankee fans never bought into any of that curse nonsense! We should have laughed that off, and got on to the business of watching the most storied franchise in all of sports.

The holes in the Yankee's rotation should be the topic. Hughes, Kennedy, and Chamberlin, while all good, are young, and seem to be getting hit hard like a boxer with his hands down. Andy Pettite is not the pitcher that departed for Houston some years ago. Pettite still may come out of his funk and pitch the Yankees to some wins. Mike Mussina is a good anchor for the staff, but he can't carry the whole load.

And if the game I saw on Apr. 17th at Yankee Stadium is an indication, he'll have a tough time going six or seven innings, and he'll tire quickly.

As this season goes on, I hope less time is devoted to buried Red-Sox shirts and curses, and more time is spent by Hank steinbrenner building up this proud team.

  1. Mr Yankee Fan, Steinbrenner has brought 6 rings in 35 years. That aint bad at all. Mr Steinbrenner has also built us a 1 billion dollar per year sports network that ensures the Yankees Future. I would just wait til our real pitching staff actually plays. Includes Joba starting, and either Hughes, Kennedy or Rasner in the pen (2 of the 3), along with Ohlendorf, Ramirez, Farns and Mo. Fear not. You aint seen nothing yet.

  2. Wang Pettitte Moose Cahmberlain and whoever, is a marked improvement over last years' pavano scare, tha is for sure. What's changed about Pettitte? Nothing at all, other than info in a report. I agve a good rating for the passion, but I read this negativism all the time in the NY medias. OMG we lost, oh no. Panic. Its absurd. We finished with the first place offense last season, it is the same as this one (save Cairo). It has been like this every year for 3 straight years too, w estart off real bad, and then have the best finish in the league (last year we went 68 out of 100)

    1. we should'nt start off bad patrick. last place?? past performance should never be accepted as "ok" or "good enough" when the tampa bay rays are beating us. may or august we should win those games.

  3. I realize NY lost out last year behind the sox by 2 games, and the beginning of the season counts just as much as the end, good point. It has been like this for about 5 years now. The return of Martinez. 10 games back in May. Sometimes it seems as though they are saving the real starters for the second half. Can't wait to read the next one. Meant no offense at all, everyone is entitled, keep em coming

  4. none taken patrick :0) i get really passionate about the yankees, sorry if i came off angry
