Cincinnati Reds: A Work In Progress

Yes, the Cincinnati Reds haven't had a winning season since 2000, but they have a good farm system with good young developing players. For instance Joey Votto, a young first baseman, is having a great May/April, batting .302 with seven homers and 18 RBI. Votto's only a 24-year-old as well so his future looks bright. He hails  from Toronto, stands 6 3" and weighs 220lbs.

Another nice young star is Jay Butler, a great outfielder who looks to be Griffey's replacement (after retirement). The brightest of these young stars, however, is Edison Volquez. He is a young pitcher, who like his teammate Johnny Cueto (who had a no-hit bid on his first start in the majors), is having an outstanding season. Edison has a 1.06 ERA with a 5-1 record and 52 strikeouts.

The Reds are last in the NL Central at the moment, but they always start off slow, similarly to the Yankees. The difference, though, is that the Yankees have enough talent to get back in the race whereas the Reds don't. Their hitting is good enough, but that bullpen along with most of the starting pitching is not consistent.

The Reds new GM is filling in some big holes that previous GM's created. Dusty Baker is a good manager, and i think Francisco Cordero is solid, but Josh Hamilton has already proven to be a major loss.
