Alabama’s senior center, Antoine Caldwell, is on the 2008 Rimington Trophy Watch List.
The Rimington Trophy is an annual award given out to the nation’s best center. Caldwell joins four other SEC players on the Spring Watch List.
Caldwell, a graduate of Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama, is a three-year starter for the Crimson Tide, and has played center, left guard and right guard during his time in Tuscaloosa.
He started 32 consecutive games before a suspension prior to the Tennessee game.
Past recipients of the Rimington Trophy include Nebraska’s Dominic Raiola, Ohio State’s LeCharles Bentley, Miami’s Brett Romberg, Virginia Tech’s Jake Grove, co-winners Michigan’s David Baas and LSU’s Ben Wilkerson, Minnesota’s Greg Eslinger, West Virginia’s Dan Mozes, and Arkansas’ Jonathan Luigs.
Rimington, the award’s namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy’s only double winner as the nation’s finest college interior lineman.
There are a total of 42 players on the watch list.

Always good to see some reports from Bama.
I only counted 4 others from the SEC though: Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee. Am I missing one?

No, you are right. I started writing five from the SEC including Caldwell, but ended up saying something else. I'll fix it. thanks.
