Just days before the 2014 NFL regular season kicks off, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts is reportedly dealing with another hamstring injury.

Michael DiRocco of ESPN reported the news on Twitter Thursday:

Shorts previously injured his hamstring in July, as DiRocco noted. While he was able to suit up for the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions, the latest issue is yet another setback.

Head coach Gus Bradley commented on his wideout's latest ailment, via Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union:

It was more precautionary on our part. He just had a little bit of tightness. We were looking at possibly giving him [today] off and we said, ‘Let’s go out there and see how it feels.’ Then we said, ‘Let’s not do it.’

John Oehser of Jaguars.com suggested Shorts' injury might not be too serious:

Adam Caplan of ESPN offered his quick take on the impact of Shorts' injury:

Shorts has registered 121 receptions for 1,756 yards and 10 touchdowns since the start of 2012. With Chad Henne under center to start the year, Shorts was expected to put up good numbers if he could remain healthy.

But with another potential setback, Shorts' status is currently unknown for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Going against a high-powered offense, the Jags could certainly use his dynamic ability on the field.
