England's friendly with Norway at Wembley on Wednesday evening was uneventful until the 67th minute, when Raheem Sterling was brought down by Omar Elabdellaoui in the box and a penalty was awarded.
Wayne Rooney duly stepped up and converted from twelve yards with a powerful strike that Norwegian keeper Orjan Nyland had little chance of saving.
It was Rooney's first goal as England captain and his 41st for the national team.
It was also his last kick of the game, as he made way for Danny Welbeck shortly afterwards.
