Biffle controls his own Chase destiny if there is a repeat winner. If there is a repeat 2014 winner (or if Matt Kenseth or Ryan Newman win), Biffle is guaranteed a spot in the Chase if he finishes 22nd or better; or 23rd with at least one lap led; or 24th and the most laps led, NASCAR PR reports.
Newman is in a bit better position than Biffle as far as Chase clinch scenarios go heading to Richmond. Still, the veteran Roush Fenway Racing driver has most of the cards stacked in his favor when all things are considered. Only a new winner for the season could put some pressure on the No. 16 Ford team. That would put outside contenders Clint Bowyer and Kyle Larson more in play than at present.
