Everton have completed a season-long loan deal for Olympiacos forward David Henen, just hours after the Greek champions signed the player from Anderlecht.

According to the official Everton website, the 18-year-old will join the club's under-21 side, Roberto Martinez said of his new acquisition:

As we had said previously, he's someone whose potential we recognise and at this stage he will go into the under-21 development squad. We looking forward to working with him this season.

Merseyside writer Richard Buxton confirmed the Toffees are familiar with Henen after he trained among their ranks this summer. The Guardian's Andy Hunter noted the strange path his deadline day took:

Henen joins Belgian compatriots Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas at Goodison Park, Mirallas himself an alumni of Olympiacos.
