The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they have signed quarterback Matt Cassel to a long-term extension. The deal is six seasons, and the money goes up over $60 million. Cassel was rumored to sign the deal on draft day, but it took almost three months for the contract to be signed.
Cassel was traded by the New England Patriots this offseason, because Tom Brady showed progress in his rehab. Last season, Cassel thew for 3,693 yards and 21 touchdowns, while completing over 60 percent of the passes he threw.
There are still questions about Cassel. Some think he is a product of his surroundings. Others think it is too early to give him too much after one good season. Look what happened to Derek Anderson.
