Chelsea's Nathaniel Chalobah wasn't expected to play a big role for the Blues in 2014-15, and it was announced on Monday that he will join Premier League newcomers Burnley on loan until January.

The Clarets announced the news via Twitter:

The club later released a statement via their website, expressing their excitement over the latest addition to the squad:

Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Chelsea and England U21 international Nathaniel Chalobah on a loan deal until January.

The midfielder spent the majority of the 2013-2014 on loan at Championship side Nottingham Forest before joining Middlesbrough for the remainder of the campaign in January.

Chalobah has spent the last few seasons on loan with several English clubs, seeking regular playing time in order to continue his development. The defender, who can also play in midfield, enjoyed great success with Watford, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough and will now get to test his abilities at Premier League level.

The England U21 international is currently preparing for the team's qualifiers against Moldova and Lithuania, and he is expected to join his new team-mates immediately after the international break.
