The Cincinnati Bengals have started the process of clearing their backfield logjam by releasing veteran BenJarvus Green-Ellis.
The Bengals announced the move:

Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer has Marvin Lewis' thoughts on the move:
Marvin Lewis on cutting BJGE: “It’s very difficult to release such a fine player and person as BenJarvus"— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) August 29, 2014
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports broke the news:
The Bengals are releasing RB Benjarvus Green-Ellis, going with youth in the backfield and letting the veteran go— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2014
Green-Ellis spent the past two seasons in Cincinnati after coming over from the New England Patriots. The Bengals are set to move forward with a one-two punch of Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill at running back, which would have left little work for the 29-year-old Ole Miss product.
