Mehdi Benatia completed a move from AS Roma to Bayern Munich this week in a deal reportedly worth around €30 million, as per Sky Sports, but Bayern's star man Arjen Robben admitted to reporters that he had almost no idea who the defender was.

In quotes picked up by Goal, Robben was quoted saying:

Honestly, I do not know him. I only know that he comes from Roma.

But the club will know why they got him. Javi (Martinez, injured, August 13) is a great loss, so we needed a replacement.

On the plus side, though, once Benatia does settle into life in Germany, Robben says it's a place which can get the best out of him:

For me, it was a very important decision to come to Munich.

I was previously at top clubs such as Real Madrid or Chelsea and obviously also had good times there.

But I've only reached my top level in Munich.
