Following a resounding 31-21 victory over the interstate rival Pittsburgh Steelers, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the New York Jets in the final game of the preseason. It doesn't quite have the luxury of a regular-season game, especially since none of the starters (or backup quarterback Mark Sanchez) will likely suit up.
However, Eagles fans will get to see former quarterback Michael Vick back in town, as Vick is expected to be Geno Smith's backup for the 2014 season. The Eagles will be trotting out second-year player Matt Barkley as their quarterback.
Chip Kelly has until the end of the week to trim his roster from 75 players to the league-mandated 53, which means 22 players on the current roster will lose their jobs. Up to 10 of those can sign on with the practice squad, but still, that means Thursday night's contest will allow the second-, third- and even fourth-stringers a good chance to battle it out for the coveted final roster spots.
