The information released thus far for NBA 2K15 has almost single-handedly made the first week in October pretty exciting for sports gamers.
When you add in the fact that NHL 15 and FIFA 15 will still be new releases, NBA Live 15 and DriveClub release on the same day, and WWE 2K15 is due out on October 28, the 10th month of the year might just cause a few breakups.
The folks at 2K Sports have long been the masters of pre-release hype. This year's campaign for NBA 2K15 is no exception.
With increasing regularity, details about NBA 2K15 are hitting the web and social media. Here's the three new nuggets of information.
Yes, it's just furry characters pop-locking around, but in the grand scheme of things, lifelike mascots only add to the overall presentation of the game.
On Wednesday, this short video via Instagram showed off Benny the Bull and a few other mascots grooving.
It's not a major announcement but a little something new that longtime fans of the series will notice.
Create-A-Players in My League
A few weeks ago, 2K announced the conceptually awesome MyLeague mode. Essentially, gamers can customize this mode in almost every way.
Importing classic teams, realigning divisions, editing attributes, names and a host of other things are all possible in this mode. It sounds like the ultimate sandbox experience. Quite honestly, the announcement of this mode made NBA 2K15 the most highly anticipated release of the year for me.
Ever greedy for more, I asked NBA 2K social media manager Ronnie Singh, aka Ronnie 2K, if gamers would be allowed to create teams and import them into the MyLeague experience. Here's Ronnie's answer, as well as a followup from community manager Chris Manning, aka LD2K.
While it is a bummer that custom teams can't be imported in, knowing that created players could be included is a nice touch.
Per the linked interview, there's a robust create-a-player suite coming with the game. That in itself makes me feel warm on the inside.
Because the mode will allow full fantasy drafts, the ability to create players means gamers can put themselves, friends, non-included legends and others into their MyLeague experience.
That's the type of thing that makes a man want to call in sick.
Ernie and Shaq
Earlier this week, a rather massive inclusion into NBA 2K15 was announced. Shaquille O'Neal and Ernie Johnson, the co-hosts on Inside the NBA on TNT virtually appeared in the Yakkem trailer. Check it out below.
We don't know exactly what capacity Shaq and Ernie will be involved, but it appears that the two will be apart of some sort of halftime show. We can only hope there's a pre-game and postgame show to further augment the real-life, TV-style presentation.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
