Shakhtar Donetsk's home stadium, Donbass Arena, was rocked on Saturday by "two powerful explosions."

The club confirmed the explosions in a press release:

On 23 August, at 6:00, two powerful explosions occurred at Donbass Arena. As a result of shelling, there are numerous damages of the northwestern facade of the stadium, communications, equipment and detached building of the energy centre, which is located in the norther part of the Donbass Arena park.

There are no casualties among the stadium staff.

The city has seen constant conflict between national forces and pro-Russian separatists throughout the summer.

As a result of the conflict, a number of Shakhtar's marquee players have left or tried to leave the club.

Shakhtar are set to take on Obolon-Brovar in the Ukrainian Cup round of 32 later on Saturday.
