The Indianapolis Colts will look for their first win when they host the New Orleans Saints in Week 3 of NFL preseason action.
The 0-2 Colts are 2.5-point favorites against the Saints, according to online sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark, despite blowing a 26-0 lead in the fourth quarter against the New York Giants last weekend. But with a 4-1 record SU in head-to-head preseason games dating back to 1996, a Sunday date with the Saints may be just what the Colts need.
Unlike Indy, New Orleans are off to a fast 2-0 start to the preseason, posting wins over the St. Louis Rams and Tennessee Titans, covering the spread in both games.
However, the Colts present the Saints with their first real competition of the summer. Indianapolis opens the season with odds of 18-1 in NFL futures betting to win Super Bowl XLIX, closely trailing the Saints, who sit at 12-1.
Another pair of Super Bowl contenders go head-to-head this weekend. The 2-0 Chicago Bears travel to Seattle on Friday night to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks.
The Bears, who squeezed by the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-19 last weekend, arrive in Seattle as seven-point underdogs against a 1-1 Seahawks squad that was firing on all cylinders in a 41-14 rout of the San Diego Chargers in Week 2.
While the Seahawks look ready to defend their Super Bowl title, they don’t currently own the best Super Bowl odds. At 15-2, Seattle sits deadlocked with the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl betting odds, trailing the New England Patriots at 7-1 and the Denver Broncos at 13-2.
The Bears remain solidly in the Super Bowl online betting picture, with odds of 14-1.
The 49ers play host to the 1-1 Chargers on Sunday afternoon. San Francisco is a six-point favorite over the Bolts in NFL online betting despite a brutal start to the preseason, during which the Niners have scored a total of just three points in a pair of losses.
However, the Niners have enjoyed recent preseason success against San Diego, emerging as winners in their last four preseason meetings, according to the NFL preseason trends report at Odds Shark.
In other action, the 1-1 Patriots are 5.5-point home favorites on Friday against the 1-1 Carolina Panthers, who have disappointed bettors when facing the Pats in August, posting an 0-4-1 record ATS in their last five preseason meetings.
