With Luis Suarez banned from competing at the beginning of the season and Neymar having injured a vertebra in the World Cup, there was a bit of worry among Barcelona fans. Yet, with Neymar recovering quickly and already competing in friendly play, there is much to be excited about.

Above all else, not having Suarez for the first few months of the season is not a good thing. He was signed to be a star on the team, and it will have to do without him. However, Neymar already looks incredible in preseason play and will give La Blaugrana just what they need while they wait for their new striker to be cleared to play.

Back injuries are never a good thing. When Neymar went down in Brazil, no one really knew how serious the injury was or how long he would be out. Again, no one expected him to be back and healthy this quickly.

The Brazilian started against Leon in the annual Joan Gamper Trophy and absolutely dazzled.

He set up the first goal for Lionel Messi before going on to score a brace. Neymar looked as healthy as ever and clearly loved his role in the Luis Enrique system. Granted, it was a friendly match, but Neymar gave fans a lot to be excited about.

To begin with, fans can already get rid of the worry they had over Neymar’s health. It was evident on Monday that the back injury is already a thing of the past and the young winger is ready to jump straight into the new season.

Though back injuries are a delicate issue, Neymar seems to have recovered perfectly and will be a major player from day one of the new campaign.

Secondly, fans can also rest a bit easier knowing that Enrique is looking for ways to utilize Neymar’s talents, rather than trying to force the Brazilian to conform to a specific system.

Last year, the 22-year-old struggled to find his footing in the Barcelona system and was, for lack of a better word, a more toned-down version of his real self.

It is already clear that Enrique is making changes to the playing style and is looking for ways to take advantage of what Neymar brings to the team. Against Leon, the Brazilian was given more space to run in and the freedom to play with the ball at his feet.

As a result, Neymar looked very happy and more comfortable in the Blaugrana shirt. If the style really does allow for Neymar to be unleashed, the attacking trident could be a nightmare for opponents.

The club and fans already knew before Suarez was signed that he would not be available for some time. The biggest worry was over Neymar’s health and if he would be able to partner with Messi up top when the season officially began.

Thankfully, fans can rest easy knowing that Neymar already looks like his normal self, and soon Luis Suarez will complete the Catalan trident.

Maybe the biggest piece of good news was that fans finally got to see Suarez playing in the Blaugrana shirt and a taste of what the future holds for FC Barcelona.
