Luis Suarez hasn't quite severed his ties with Liverpool, with current manager Brendan Rodgers confirming that the Uruguayan texted him a good luck message before the Premier League opener against Southampton.
Suarez looks set to make his own start to the season—in a friendly for Barcelona against Leon—on Monday evening.
Rodgers told a press conference:
Luis sent me a lovely text this morning wishing us all the best, which was a great gesture. He is a friend now of Liverpool. We are bigger than any player. [...] It was a real love-in. He’s a great boy but he is gone now.
Liverpool won the game 2-1.
