Liverpool eventually defeated Southampton 2-1 in their Premier League opener on Sunday, but the match didn't lack drama. With the Reds leading 2-1 in the final minutes, Southampton let a golden opportunity go to w.

First, Simon Mignolet somehow managed to redirect a Morgan Schneiderlin effort onto the bar. Then, when the ball careened back into play, new Saints signing Shane Long was unable to convert the rebound into the open net.

Brilliant from Mignolet, but Liverpool can count themselves very lucky to have taken the three points.
