Real Madrid have already completed their incoming transfer business this summer, but there could be further outgoings in the week leading up to the start of the Primera Division season.

The purchases of James Rodriguez, Keylor Navas and Toni Kroos have strengthened last season's Champions League-winning squad but now leave Madrid with a surplus of players in certain areas.

Angel Di Maria and Sami Khedira have been strongly linked with transfers away from the Bernabeu and are sure to be at the heart of further transfer stories over the next week.

The following slides will keep you up to date with any news and rumours surrounding the team's transfer activity.

In: Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), James Rodriguez (Monaco) and Keylor Navas (Levante)

Out: Alvaro Morata (Juventus), Jesus Fernandez (Levante), Casemiro (Porto, Loan) and Diego Lopez (AC Milan)

Angel Di Maria is expected to start for Real Madrid in Friday evening's second leg of their Spanish Super Cup tie with Atletico Madrid, but he continues to be linked with moves away from the Bernabeu.

Sport (h/t Football Espana) report that Barcelona offered €60 million for Di Maria, only to be flatly refused by Madrid president Florentino Perez. They do, however, suggest that the offer may simply have been an attempt "to exacerbate the situation between the disaffected player and his club."

The English press are split on whether Manchester United will push forward with an offer for Di Maria.

The Daily Star's Chisanga Malata indicates that United boss Louis van Gaal is still keen on signing the Argentinian midfielder, but Daily Express journalist Richard Tanner suggests United will pass on Di Maria as Van Gaal does not wish to stymie the development of Adnan Januzaj.

Paris Saint-Germain would now appear to be out of the running after their coach, Laurent Blanc, described signing Di Maria as a "difficult issue."

"There are a lot of clubs interested in Di Maria," he said at press conference on Thursday, as reported by AS. "PSG can't just do what it wants."

In The Telegraph Matt Law reports that Arsenal are considering moves for Sami Khedira and Sporting midfielder William Carvalho in the wake of Mikel Arteta's recent ankle injury.

Law writes that Khedira could be in line for a move to the Emirates if Real Madrid drop their asking price.

Real Madrid have revealed that Khedira has asked to leave the Spanish club, which has left the door open for Arsenal to revive their interest in the German.

Arsenal investigated the possibility of signing Khedira earlier in the summer, but were put off by the financial package involved and his injury record.

Should Real and Khedira now drop their demands, then Arsenal could yet make a move to sign the 27-year-old.

Carlo Ancelotti provided an update on the Angel Di Maria situation at a press conference ahead of the second leg of Real Madrid's Spanish Super Cup tie with Atletico Madrid.

Ancelotti: "Di María has asked to leave & rejected offer from club. [But] if he does not find future solution he stays no problem"

    — Dermot Corrigan (@dermotmcorrigan) August 21, 2014

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are the two clubs who have been most readily linked with Di Maria. There has not, however, been significant movement on either front.

L'Equipe: PSG's Angel Di Maria move far from done. Real Madrid hope to keep him for at least 1 more year & PSG not close to selling anyone.

On di María. As of today, there has been no offer whatsoever for the player by Manchester United. None so far.

Marca report that Real Madrid and Sami Khedira are locked in a "silent war," that could continue until the end of the summer transfer window.

Talks over a new contract broke down in mid-July and the club are now keen to offload Khedira in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea are the clubs who have previously been linked with the German international, but Bayern Munich's honorary president Franz Beckenbauer feels Khedira would be a perfect fit for the German champions.

"Khedira would fit into any team," he told Bild (h/t Marca). "He'd be outstanding at Bayern. He's incredibly skilled in his number six position. He could play alongside Schweinsteiger or Lahm."

Ben Jefferson of the Daily Express reports rumours in the Italian press that Manchester United are considering a move for Xabi Alonso.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Arturo Vidal this summer while Van Gaal is also known to be keen on Roma's Kevin Strootman.

But with a move for Vidal still in doubt and Strootman not expected to be fit until later this year, Alonso could make sense as a stopgap measure.

Real were said to be unhappy that the Spanish international had returned to preseason having lost significant weight during the summer.

Angel Di Maria and Sami Khedira are the two players who have been most readily linked with moves away from Real Madrid and the pair enjoyed differing fortunes during Tuesday night's Spanish Super Cup, first leg tie against Atletico Madrid.

Di Maria gave an ample demonstration of the energy and drive he can bring to the side in an bright quarter-hour cameo after replacing Luka Modric in the 78th minute. He was enthusiastically cheered on by the home supporters.

Afterwards, Madrid defender Sergio Ramos suggested that Di Maria could stay.

"It's clear that Di Maria was very good last season and that he is a player who is really loved by the fans," he said, as reported by Inside Spanish Football. "I don't think Di Maria's intention is to leave."

Khedira, on the other hand, was not included in Carlo Ancelotti's 18-man squad—a decision Marca believe is a clear indication that he does not feature in the Italian's plans.

"Real Madrid are looking to offload the German before the transfer window closes, as he only has one more year left on his contract," they write. "His continued omission from the matchday squad is a way of pressurising the player to quit the club."

L'Equipe report that Angel Di Maria's move from Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain could be back on.

L'Equipe: PSG could complete signing of Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria this week. Player has informed Carlo Ancelotti of his desire to leave.

L'Equipe: Real & PSG have an agreement in principle over the loan of Angel Di Maria, but the sticking point is the final price.

    — Jonathan Johnson (@Jon_LeGossip) August 19, 2014

Carlo Ancelotti spoke on Di Maria at a news conference on Monday afternoon, ahead of the first leg of Real Madrid's Spanish Super Cup tie with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

"I don't know what Di Maria has decided, but he is ready to play and he can help us," he said, as per Inside Spanish Football. "Until 31st August, that’s the line we’ll maintain. If he stays or if he goes, afterwards, everything will return to normal."

Bleacher Report's Jerrad Peters picked out Angel Di Maria as one of the winners from Real Madrid's 2-1 friendly defeat to Fiorentina on Saturday.

"Di Maria, quite simply, was Madrid’s best player against Fiorentina, and he picked up an assist on Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener," Peters wrote.

It was a timely reminder of what Di Maria can bring to the side, but he could still be on his way out of the Bernabeu. Ian Ladyman reports in the Daily Mail that Manchester United are readying a £100 million package to tempt him to Old Trafford.

United manager Van Gaal is desperate for world-class additions and has told executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to do all he can to bring winger Di Maria to the club from Real Madrid.

It is understood United have told the Argentine that, with performance-based incentives, they will pay him around £200,000 a week. Over a five-year deal that would take the club's investment to £100m when a transfer fee of around £50m is included.

With Paris Saint-Germain having earlier pulled out of the race to sign him, United now seem the only realistic option for Di Maria if he hopes to leave Real Madrid this summer.

Despite the purchase of Keylor Navas, Real Madrid are still searching for a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas.

For that role, the club are targeting World Cup-winning Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, according to German newspaper Bild (h/t BBC Sport).

Details are currently scant, and the story is yet to be picked up or expanded on in the Spanish press.

Transfermarkt estimate Neuer's current value at €40 million, while the CIES Football Observatory opt for a more conservative figure of €25.4-29.6 million.
