The Carolina Panthers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 28-16 Sunday night. Carolina's scoring was highlighted by its rushing attack as Jonathan Stewart scored twice in the first half and Fozzy Whittaker added another in the second half.

Cam Newton was not very sharp in his first appearance of the preseason, but he wasn't bad either. He still needs to work on his chemistry and timing with his receivers, but he should have plenty of time for that. The defense made some good stops when needed and got a few breaks on a couple of Kansas City penalties.

Next up for the Panthers: a Friday contest against the New England Patriots.
