By now everyone has heard about Cedric Benson getting busted in Texas this last weekend for driving a boat under the influence. My question is: Who hasn't driven a marine vehicle while drinking?
At least where I'm from, granted we don't have many large lakes in Nebraska, everyone drinks on the shore, grills, plays drinking games, and then climbs into a boat for an hour of cruising and then repeats the cycle. The driver of the boat is always the soberest one of course, but he has been drinking. So, I don't feel any animosity or anger toward Cedric for enjoying a nice hot summer day.
By they way, if you haven't been to the lake outside of Austin, TX (I believe its Lake Travis), take a week off of work and go now. Imagine all those hotties you see on television in the crowd for the University of Texas football, basketball, or baseball games. Now imagine them in skimpy swim suits. And now imagine them intoxicated and becoming extremely flirty. Now throw in the millions of dollars that Cedric has and his amazing boat. Cedric, YOU DA MAN! Drink up and have a good time!
As long as drinking on a lake is done responsibly, I can't blame Cedric for having a beer or five and hopping on a boat. Everyone does it. I guarantee the only reason his boat got busted was because of the number of people on it. Every other drunk frat boy with daddy's boat was drinking too.
So, before passing any judgement on this matter, ask yourself what you do on summer weekends at the lake. Do you sit around and sip iced tea before hopping on a boat, or do you and your golf buddies have a few beers and hop on the boat for a bit? That's what I thought.

I haven't heard either way. I am assuming he was smart enough to not drive a boat while "Drunk." At least I am and so are everyone I boat with.

This is obviously the other view being cast toward Benson's way, and with the news he was wrongfully treated during his arrest, your article helps support that maybe Benson isn't an alien and is more like normal people than some want to believe. Nice Work!

I'm appalled. Just appalled... I could understand if you felt he deserves the benefit of the doubt, that maybe he wasn't intoxicated, maybe he didn't resist arrest...
But you say "who cares?" even if he was? I know I'd lose my job for much less. He needs to be responsible and realize that the rules apply to him too.

I truly don't think Cedric Benson knows how to handle himself on a daily basis. He seems to live day-to-day, not realizing that the words "planning" and"future" xist in the dictionary. What do you guys think the Bears should do with him from this point?

In my opinion, they should let all the facts come out. If he was legally drunk, not just under the influence, then he should get a one or two game suspension. Keep in mind that if you drink 3 beers you are legally to drunk to drive. I know for a fact that I've never seen any person drive a boat without having at least 3 beers. Normally 5 or 6.

The most idiotic part of it all was when he refused to go take another sobriety test.
First of all, it doesn't matter who you are; if a police officer tells you to do something, just do it. Get off your high horse that you think you're on as a no-talent ass clown who tries to be an NFL player.
Second, if you really are "sober", why not just take the test and prove him wrong?
He's just a dumb kid. Yes, he's a kid, because I honestly don't think he's a man. He's a joke of a professional athlete.
