Pigeons Stubbornly Disrupt Miguel Cabrera and Vance Worley During At-Bat

Wednesday's game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers featured an unusual stoppage in play during Miguel Cabrera's at-bat in the first inning against Vance Worley.

Two extremely persistent pigeons decided to stop by. First, Cabrera tried to scare them away with his bat, then Worley rolled a ball near the birds to shoo them away. But the pigeons didn't care.

Eventually, the Tigers grounds crew used a net to corral the birds, and they can consider themselves fortunate:

Perhaps the pigeons disrupted Worley's focus, as he gave up two home runs in the Pirates' 8-4 loss.
