Predicting Luis Suarez's Key Stats in His First Season at Barcelona
Luis Suarez has joined Barcelona, giving the Catalans the most fearsome attacking trident in football alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar. While no one is really sure just when the Uruguayan will be able to see the field for his new club, expectations for the season are high.
Suarez made his name in England for being a striker who could score amazing goals, as well as dish out a ton of assists at the same time. He can certainly do more than the average center forward and that is what makes him so deadly and valuable.
In this article we will predict what his key statistics will look like this season for Barcelona, while also discussing what those numbers could mean for La Blaugrana. As always, be sure to get involved in the discussion in the comment section below!

24 Goals Scored
Suarez will not be able to start banging in goals for the Catalans when the season starts due to his ban, but you can guarantee that he will jump right into things as soon as he is available.
Last season, the 27-year-old led the Premier League with 31 goals, however, playing with the likes of Messi and Neymar will make that number a bit out of reach. That being the case, Suarez’s predicted goal amount is somewhere around 24, which most fans would be more than happy to see.
Adding that many goals to the number that Messi will undoubtedly reach will give Barcelona the second option they have been missing for so long. Having another world-class scorer could put the Catalans over the edge and bring more titles back to the Camp Nou.
Unlike most strikers, Suarez possesses the wonderful ability to set up chances for others as well. Last season the Uruguayan provided 12 assists at Liverpool, but playing with the forwards at Barcelona could see that number go even higher.
Saurez’s predicted assist total in his first season at Barcelona is 15, that being the case for an understandable reason.
At Liverpool, the 27-year-old had Daniel Sturridge as a strike partner, but he had little else helping him up front. At Barcelona, there are many more options for Suarez to link up with, meaning even more assists.
Making attacking runs with Messi, Neymar, Pedro or Gerard Deulofeu could prove absolutely unstoppable at times for La Blaugrana, and it also means that Suarez will be able to continue making those key passes. In fact, playing in three major competitions could see his assist total rise even higher if he hits peak form quickly for the Catalan giants.
83 Percent Pass Accuracy Rating
Strikers normally do not complete as many passes as other players due to the fact that they are always looking to make more difficult moves around the goal. However, that did not stop Suarez from completing 75 percent of his passes with Liverpool last season.
Coming into the Barcelona system, it is clear that Suarez will be expected to pass the ball with the best of them. He is certainly capable of it and that is why his predicted pass completion accuracy is 83 percent.
Barcelona’s system requires every player to keep possession and not misplace passes. Suarez will be linking up with the likes of Messi and Andres Iniesta, so it is only expected that he will begin passing with even more accuracy.
What that means for the club is that more goals will be expected as well. As we already discussed, Suarez can create chances out of nothing and that will likely happen several times each game at his new club.
The thought of the 27-year-old completing close to 85 percent of his passes is just astounding. He can already do so much with the ball, and that means success for the Camp Nou outfit.
28 La Liga Appearances
Despite missing the beginning of last season, Suarez still went on to make 33 Premier League appearances with Liverpool. Surely his ban is much more intense this season, but the Uruguayan will still play a ton for Barcelona.
We predict that Suarez will make 28 appearances in La Liga this season for two main reasons.
First, his ban will keep him off the pitch for a while, leaving him with less chances in the domestic league. Secondly, Barcelona’s ultimate focus will, as always, be the UEFA Champions League, meaning Suarez could be rested multiple times in league play ahead of the team’s European matches.
That being said, making 28 appearances in La Liga is still a terrific amount of matches. Couple those games with Barcelona’s other competitions and Suarez will still have plenty of chances to leave the Barcelona faithful awestruck.
Zero Red Cards
In a recent report from The Telegraph, it was pointed out that Suarez has been suspended for roughly 47 games since 2010 without picking up a single red card.
We predict that Suarez will finish his first season with Barcelona without a single referee pulling out the red card on him, keeping his current streak alive and well.
This prediction comes from the fact that Suarez will not be looking to receive any negative attention after his biting incident in Brazil. After such a big move to Barcelona, the Uruguayan will be wanting to keep a low profile for a while so fans should expect the attitude to be kept in check well.
At the same time, La Liga referees are questionable at best, meaning the most stunning calls could come at a moment’s notice. Of course, Suarez will receive his share of bookings this year, but it is unlikely that one of those cards will be red. At least, that is what Barcelona will be hoping.
