Jeff Gordon won the pole for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400 in record-setting fashion, one of several drivers to obliterate the Michigan International Speedway track record during Friday's qualifying.
Gordon ran his final lap at a speed of 206.558 mph, more than 2 mph ahead of the track record set by Kevin Harvick back in June during qualifying for the Quicken Loans 400.
Joey Logano will start second while Carl Edwards begins in third on Sunday. Both drivers also briefly held the MIS track record on Friday afternoon.
