Danny Garcia remained undefeated on Saturday night at the Barclays Center, plowing through the horribly overmatched Rod Salka for a second-round knockout.
Garcia (29-0, 17 KO) came out looking to attack from the opening bell, and it was clear very early that he operated several levels above his opponent in the non-title affair.
Salka (19-4, 3 KO) attempted to dart in and out of range, but Garcia, who did look sharp and committed to his punches, countered effectively with big shots that made him think twice.
The ending was swift, brutal and downright scary.
Already down twice in the second round, Salka gestured Garcia in and was the recipient of a vicious left hook that nearly removed his head from his shoulders, left him flat on his back and ended the night.
Garcia, who’s belts were not on the line, remains the unified junior welterweight champion.
