David Wilson has to step away from living his dream in the NFL at the age of 23, so it was no surprise that his farewell speech was extremely difficult to deliver.

Wilson was the New York Giants' first-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft. The running back compiled 504 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in limited action over the past two seasons. He also had a receiving touchdown and scored on a kickoff return.

Unfortunately for the young player, he was recently shut down due to a chronic neck injury.

On Wednesday, he said his goodbyes. The speech gets very emotional starting around the four-minute, 50-second mark.

It's always tough to see an injury end a player's career, but Wilson is very grateful that he had the opportunity to play with the Giants.
