WWE has had its fair share of classics...

Still, as many classics as WWE has had, it has also had its fair share of disappointments...

In this article I've written about some of the most overhyped matches in the history of WWE, most of them actually coming during this decade...

So without further ado...

Let's get started...

Undertaker vs. Kane at Wrestlemania XX

ORANGE, CA - MAY 08: Wrestler/actor Glen 'Kane' Jacobs arrives at the Lions Gate Premiere of 'See No Evil' at the Century Stadium Promenade 25 on May 8, 2006 in Orange, California. (Photo by Michael Buckner/Getty Images)

This was going to be the return of "The Undertaker," after Kane buried him alive at Survivor Series, aiding Mr. McMahon.

After that, when Kane had his airtime, most of the time there were signs of Undertaker's return, as the old school Deadman gimmick.

Once Taker returned at Wrestlemania XX, he didn't look like his old self, but the most important thing was this match was bad.

Hey, maybe WWE was trying to make it a squash match, but it should've been a great match instead, remember when these two fought at Wrestlemania XIV, it was a classic, where Kane even kicked out of two tombstones.

Still, their match at Wrestlemania XX was too hyped for it's own good...

Randy Orton vs. Triple H at Wrestlemania XXV

NEW YORK - MARCH 11: Wrestler Triple H attends a press conference to promote Wrestlemania XX at Planet Hollywood March 11, 2004 in New York City. (Photo by Peter Kramer/Getty Images)

This match was one of the worst "Big Four" main events I've ever seen, and it was at the biggest of the "Big Four," Wrestlemania.

With the opponent and No. 1 contender, Randy Orton, hungry for another title reign, taking on "The Game" and at that time, WWE Champion, Triple H.

Randy had so much heat going into this match, taking out Vince and Stephanie, while injuring Shane, and we all know Triple H didn't take exception to that.

So these two feuded for the course of a month and some weeks, and this feud was turning out to be something great...

This match had so much momentum, good atmosphere, as the crowd was pretty good, but the match just didn't live up to the hype.

Some may give excuses, "oh, this was after the Michaels-Taker match, no match could top that", but this match couldn't even top the World Heavyweight Championship match...

The real reason why it was bad, was because of the terrible booking in the end of the match...

Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III

You say how?

Yes, this match was when Hogan bodyslammed Andre, but this wasn't that good of a Wrestlemania match.

Also, Hogan wasn't even the first to bodyslam Andre...

So in my books, a very overhyped match...

Floyd Mayweather vs. Big Show at Wrestlemania XXIV

LAS VEGAS - DECEMBER 08: Floyd Mayweather Jr. speaks during his post fight news conference after knocking out Ricky Hatton of England in the 10th round after their WBC world welterweight championship fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on December 8, 200

This was the co-main event of a dud of a Wrestlemania, which only had a couple of good matches, Edge/Undertaker being the best.

This feud between Show and Floyd was being shown on ESPN, and the only time I've seen WWE on ESPN was when Undertaker tombstoning Batista was on the highlights, and WWE, NBA fiasco.

This feud was on all the sports channels, as a matter of fact.

Still, it couldn't live up to the hype as it was a huge waste of time, and seemed like a filler for Wrestlemania...

The match had terrible booking, there were no high spots, etc.

Overall, this will go down, not only as one of the most overhyped, but one of the worst matches in WWE history...

Batista vs. John Cena at Summerslam 2008

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - JUNE 15: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista during the WWE Smackdown Photo Call at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel on June 15, 2008 in Sydney, Australia. (Photo by Gaye Gerard/Getty Images)

Summerslam 2008 was one of my favorite PPV's of all time, and you know what, this match wasn't half bad, in fact it was pretty good...

So why on my list?

This match had two of the biggest superstars in the entire WWE facing off for the first time ever, this was supposed to be one of the biggest matches of all time...

This had that type of 30-minute epic match type of feeling to it, pre-match of course, but in reality it only lasted 13 minutes, and in this match Cena was injured...

So this match, even if it was "pretty" good, lands on my list...

Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar

Wrestlemania XX was one of the greatest PPV's of all time...

I was watching it in my uncle's house, saying "WOW"!

Yet, we've witnessed two of my former favorites at that time, not currently, wrestle against one another.

Lesnar faced off against Goldberg, and in this match these two were staring at each other for more than half of the match...

Not even Stone Cold could save this match, as it was TERRIBLE...

Also info leaked out on the fact that Lesnar and Goldberg were leaving WWE after this match, so the fans were just booing them out of the building...

With the negative reaction and the terrible wrestling in this match, and even the fact that Stone Cold said he was embarrassed to work in this match, it is the "MOST OVERHYPED" match in WWE history...

The Closing

CHICAGO - MAY 24: A dejected fan of the Chicago Blackhawks looks on against the Detroit Red Wings during Game Four of the Western Conference Championship Round of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 24, 2009 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. (

These matches were overhyped in their own rights, and maybe I've missed a couple of other matches, if so, you can post them if you'd like...
