Could Sunderland Land Samuel Eto'o?

1 of 4

Samuel Eto'o may not be wanted at Stamford Bridge, but it hasn't stopped plenty of Premier League clubs from letting their interest in his services be known.

At one stage this summer the Cameroon star, who was released by Chelsea at the end of last season, appeared to be heading to West Ham United, per talkSPORT.

Now that deal has fallen through, The Independent reports Sunderland are a shock contender for his signature.

Eto'o has apparently rejected offers from clubs Europe and the Middle East to remain in the Premier League and with Sunderland in need of a striker as the transfer of Fabio Borini rumbles on, Gus Poyet has highlighted the former Chelsea man to bolster his attacking options.

He only signed a contract extension this summer, but Oriol Romeu has left the club on loan.

The Spaniard has joined Stuttgart for the 2014/15 season, a year after he signed a similar deal with Valencia.

Chelsea confirmed the news on the club's official website on Monday.

Atletico Madrid's Joao Miranda will not depart the Vicente Calderon Stadium this summer, rejecting rumored moves to Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Daily Star reports Miranda held talks with manager Diego Simeone over the weekend and decided his future remains in La Liga.

Only last week, The Independent reported that Chelsea were looking to bring the 29-year-old Brazilian to Stamford Bridge.

Unless Miranda has a considerable change of heart, it seems he will be an Atletico player for the foreseeable future.

Wolfsburg Step Up Torres Interest

He has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons this summer after some dreadful form in front of goal, but the plight of Fernando Torres seemingly hasn't put off Wolfsburg.

Sky Italia (via Squawka) is reporting the former Bundesliga champions are interested in bringing Chelsea's Spaniard to the Volkswagen Arena to compete with the likes of Ivica Olic and Bas Dost up front.

Should the move happen, it will see Torres joining up with former Blues teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea in January.

Torres was a £50 million signing from Liverpool in 2011.
