Anfield has been a hive of activity in terms of transfers during the summer window, with boss Brendan Rodgers bringing in a handful of new players.

However, it seems that the Reds are not yet done adding to their squad as they prepare to challenge both domestically and in the Champions League next season.

Reports suggest the Reds may still be in for more high-profile signings. Here, we have a look at the latest rumours concerning Mario Balotelli, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Alberto Moreno.

According to Italian outlet Mediaset (via Vaishali Bhardwaj of Metro), the long-rumoured signing of Balotelli from AC Milan may indeed go through with the Italian set for a £14 million move to Anfield: "Mino Raiola – who represents the Italy striker – has already begun negotiating a deal for his client to move to the Anfield outfit this summer."

Should Liverpool pursue the signing of Balotelli?

Certainly, Liverpool could do with more firepower upfront, having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75 million. The Uruguayan is a huge loss after scoring 31 goals in the Premier League last season.

The 23-year-old striker has a history of attitude issues but is a proven goalscorer, bagging 26 goals in 43 appearances for Milan since moving to the club in January 2013.

Rodgers recently expressed his admiration for Balotelli, increasing speculation that he may indeed be eager to sign him, as per Bhardwaj's report: "Balotelli has all the qualities [I like]. He’s 6’3”, he’s quick, his touch is terrific, he can score goals and he’s still so young. I saw that in this time at Inter as a young player and obviously going to Manchester City when we had a real close eye on him there."

While Balotelli would be a risky purchase considering his often volatile nature, Liverpool could really do with a top-class frontman to go some way to replacing Suarez.

The Argentinian Lavezzi may also be a possible forward recruit with reports suggesting he is to be moved on from current club Paris Saint-Germain to make way for the signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, as per Ligue 1 journalist Jonathan Johnson:

Jack De Menezes of The Independent reports that Rodgers is weighing up an £18 million offer for the 29-year-old after Loic Remy's proposed move to Anfield fell through.

In the last two seasons, Lavezzi has been an integral part of two Ligue 1-winning sides in Paris, but De Menezes also reports the player himself would prefer a move to Juventus.

It would be a blow for the Reds to miss out on Lavezzi as he is a versatile player who can both score and create goals and would fit well into Liverpool's attacking unit.

Possibly Liverpool's longest-running transfer issue of the summer, it seems as though Moreno might finally be set to make a move from Sevilla.

Adam Crafton of the Daily Mail reports that the 22-year-old left-back is close to a £16 million move to Merseyside as Rodgers looks to bolster his weak defence.

Jon Flanagan was forced to play out of position on the left of defence last season as Liverpool conceded 50 Premier League goals, effectively costing them the title.

Moreno would go a long way to solving the issues at left-back as he is both terrific going forward but solid in defence, as per Sky Sports: "Diminutive at 5ft 7in, Moreno is full of power and pace - but unlike many modern full-backs, he is a top quality defender. Yes Moreno loves to get forward, but the accuracy of his crossing and passing is a stand-out feature."

The deal for Moreno looks effectively done after a long-term pursuit by the Reds. However, the Balotelli and Lavezzi deals are seemingly far from guaranteed.

But Rodgers must bolster his strike force before the start of the season as, thus far, he has seemingly not adequately replaced Suarez.
