The Honky Tonky Man, like Santino Marella likes to say, holds the record for the longest Intercontinental Championship reign in WWE history.
He rolled, rattled and shook his way into the record books as he would win the Intercontinental title against Ricky Steamboat, where he was a replacement for Butch Reed, to win the title and the rest his history.
Honky Tonk Man was the king of getting DQ'd just to make sure he held his title.
He would go on to face and beat some of his bitter rivals like Steamboat, Billy Jack Haynes, Bruno Sammartino, George "The Animal" Steele, Macho Man Randy Savage, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and "Outlaw" Ron Bass, who got hurt before SummerSlam.
His replacement would be the Ultimate Warrior who would end his streak at one year, two months and 27 days, a record that still stands today.
