Oct 17 will start the second half of the season for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina will be sitting at 4-2 (1-2 in SEC play) looking to finish strong for the Old Ball Coach.

The schedule is not easy for the Gamecocks in the second half with 5 SEC games and their rivalry game with the Clemson Tigers.

Look for Jarvis Giles to get most of the carries in the second half for the Gamecocks. He is too talented to keep the trio of running backs sharing time.

Jason Barnes will be Stephen Garcia's go-to guy in the crunch time. Barnes' height and potential are just to much to ignore.

Game 7 at Alabama

On Oct 17. South Carolina will travel to Tuscaloosa to play the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama will have a new quarterback in Greg McElroy and will have to replace three offensive linemen from last year.

The receiving corps is lead by Julio Jones. Mark Ingram will be the featured running back.

Alabama's defense will be one of the best in the nation, replacing only two starters from a team that was third in total defense.

Watch to see how Stephen Garcia will handle the pressure of this top notch defense.

Javis Giles will need to have a big game for South Carolina to be around in the end.

South Carolina's defense will need to help their secondary to make sure Jones and the other reciever's don't go crazy.

Final Score—Tide roll easy; defense to much for the Gamecocks.

Alabama 27—South Carolina 10

Game 8 Vanderbilt

GAINESVILLE, FL - NOVEMBER 11: Defensive tackle Nathan Pepper #95 of the South Carolina Gamecocks brings down quarterback Chris Leak #12 of the University of Florida Gators on a first down run to set up a touchdown in the fourth quarter on November 11, 2

South Carolina will stay at home on Oct. 24 to battle the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Vanderbilt returns 19 of 22 starters from last year's bowl team.

The offense is still weak and will have trouble scoring in bunches for the Commodores. The defense will keep them in this game.

We will see how Garcia handles another top defensive team. Look for the Gamecocks to run alot, then try for the big play.

Nathan Pepper will step up big and make Vandy pass the ball more then the want to.

Final Score—Defensive battle with Gamecocks prevailing.

South Carolina 13—Vandy 6

Game 9 at Tennessee

COLUMBIA, SC - SEPTEMBER 1: Head coach Steve Spurrier of the South Carolina Gamecocks looks on before the game against the University of Central Florida Golden Knights on September 1, 2005 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. South Caro

Knoxville here we come. South Carolina will play the Tennessee Volunteers on Oct. 31.

The only think to look for here is to watch Steve Spurrier out-coach Lane Kiffin.

Tennessee's offense still has questions. Can Jonathan Crompton lead this team?

With Eric Berry back, every team will think twice throwing his way.

South Carolina will run and hit short patterens to keep the ball away from Berry. South Carolina's defense will blitz all day long and shake Crompton up.

It won't be easy, as Tennessee's offensive line is good. With enough pressure the Gamecocks get it done.

Coach Spurrier will not let up and bring out every trick he has to show Kiffin who will be pumping gas.

Final Score—Gamecocks win big on tje road.

South Carolina 24—Tennessee 13

Game 10 at Arkansas

The Gamecocks will be riding high into Fayetteville to play the Arkansas Razorbacks, but will come out shaking their heads.

Arkansas' offense returns eight starters from a team ranked fourth in total offense. With new quarterback Ryan Mallett, the Hogs won't miss a beat.

Look for South Carolina's defense to struggle all game as the Hogs will throw the kitchen sink at them.

Nine starters return on defense for the Hogs, which was last in the SEC in total defense. They're still young but will be imporved.

Garcia will need to have a big game to stay with the Hogs' offense. He will need quick-strike ability and complete control of the game to win.

Final Score—Big letdown, Gamecocks let one get away.

Arkansas 31—South Carolina 17

Game 11 Florida

Nov. 14 brings in the defending National Champs and probaly ranked No. 1 team in the country into town.

Florida has it all, enough said.

South Carolina's only hope in this game is to force turnovers, keep Tebow and the offense of the field, establish the run to control the clock.

With all that said Florida's defense is just as good as the offense.

The Gamecocks' goal on defense will be to try and keep Florida in the 20s in points.

The Gamecocks' offensive goal needs to be to keep the ball and settle down and not get too excitied.

Final Score—No contest

Florida 41—South Carolina 13

Game 12 Clemson

COLUMBIA, SC - SEPTEMBER 11: The offensive line of the South Carolina Gamecocks readies for the snap of the ball against the Georgia Bulldogs during their game at Williams-Brice Stadium on September 11, 2004 in Columbia, South Carolina. Georgia defeated

After a week off, South Carolina will play in-state rival Clemson on Nov 28.

Too many questions on the Clemson offense for me. With this being the 12th game of the season, most of that stuff should be worked out.

The Gamecock defense is too good to let Clemson establish anything. C.J. Spiller will get his yards and might break a few but the Gamecock defense will prevail.

The O-LIne needs to step up big for the Gamecocks in this game. Garcia will need time and the rushing attack will need to produce for the Gamecocks to win.

Clemson's defense returns eight starters and will be daring Garica to throw to the secondary.

Final Score—Gamecocks get it done

South Carolina 24—Clemson 17

Bowl Game: 7-5 (3-5 in SEC)

South Carolina will go to the Music City Bowl this year.

A very disappointing year for the Gamecocks.

Coach Spurrier will question how many more years like this can he stand.
