Jonny Gomes' Return to Oakland Gets the LeBron James Treatment

Kyle NewportFeatured ColumnistJuly 31, 2014

Jonny Gomes is going home.

The veteran outfielder had played for the Boston Red Sox since the beginning of the 2013 season and even won a World Series with them. However, he recently found out that he will be going back to his home state of California.

WEEI.com's Alex Speier reported on Thursday that Gomes was being traded to the Oakland A's along with Jon Lester in exchange for Yoenis Cespedes. He played for the Athletics in 2012, so this will be a reunion as well as a homecoming.

The A's wanted to welcome back Gomes properly by giving him the LeBron James treatment.
