The last of the bunch is the Wyoming Cowboys spring analysis. Wyoming had one of the best defenses in the league and in the country. They allowed only one player all year to rush for over 100 yards.   The Cowboys spring game concluded over the past weekend.  Turnovers, which was a problem all last year, was limited to one interception overall.  The offense worked on limiting turnovers which was a problem when Wyoming played against good teams last year.  Quarterback still could be an issue because Karsten Sween struggled in the second half of last year, but still looks to be the opening day starter against Ohio.

  • B/R Ticket Guide

The Cowboys saw much improvement in their running game with Devin Moore who is back.  He rushed for 72 yards in the spring game.  Include Wynel Seldon in the mix out of the backfield and the Pokes look to have a good running attack.  Also, Wyoming seems to have found a "go to" receiver, something they lacked last year. The leading men look to be Tight End Jesson Salyords and WR Darrion Donnelly.  These two players should help out with the passing game.

One last thing that Wyoming needs to do. Well, it's something that cannot be taught in spring.  The Cowboys have to improve the nemisis of not fading late in the year.  Not sure if it was fatigue or inexperience, but finishing strong is key for this team to improve.

  1. From the sound of your analysis, it's going to be a year of change in the MWC. Should be some exciting football, too.

    Great read Jeremy....as always.
