With the five highest-rated players at each offensive skill position identified, it's becoming clearer what teams will be the most dangerous in Madden NFL 15.
Armed with that knowledge and logical expectations for players whose ratings have yet to be revealed, I surmise the following teams will be offensive juggernauts and very popular online.
We don't know Jay Cutler's rating, but assuming it's in the low to mid 80s, he should have a plethora of weapons in the running and passing game.
Halfback Matt Forte is finally getting the love he deserves. Madden has him listed as the No. 4 halfback in the game with an overall rating of 95.
EA Sports ratings czar Donny Moore talked about what makes Forte so good in the game: "Forte is not the fastest or the most powerful back in the game, but there's nothing he can’t do. His 91 SPD/92 AGI/94 ACC give him nice physical measureables, and his 96 Carry (ranked second) and 84 Catch (third) make him an every-down back in Madden and in the real world."
Chicago Now blogger Bears STH likes Forte's mark:
Add to that the second-highest-rated receiver in Brandon Marshall, budding superstar Alshon Jeffery, who also figures to crack the 90 overall-rating mark, and Martellus Bennett, a tight end who had 65 receptions last season, and the Bears are going to be a handful on the virtual gridiron.
The Defending Champions
Like reflex, gamers flock to the team that just won the Super Bowl when choosing a squad to control online. The Seahawks had already begun to be the sexy pick on Madden 25.
I can't count how many opponents chose Russell Wilson and Co. against me last year.
With Wilson and halfback Marshawn Lynch recognized as two of the top five at their position in Madden 15, there's reason to believe the bandwagon will shrink.
Wilson's dual-threat abilities will always make him an attractive quarterback to control. Because of the team's vaunted defense, experienced gamers will love to pound out yardage on the ground with Lynch.
Percy Harvin and Doug Baldwin will give the team a little speed at receiver as well, but the team is best suited as a clock-eating, ball-control attack led by Lynch and Wilson.
How 'Bout Them Cowboys
Say what you want about Tony Romo, but he threw for 3,828 yards, 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions in 15 games last season. His rating should probably be in the high 80s or low 90s.
With Dez Bryant and Jason Witten ranked in the top five at their positions, the Dallas Cowboys passing game should be solid.
Running back DeMarco Murray is coming off his first 1,000-yard season, and he averaged 5.2 yards per carry. He also stayed relatively healthy. He played in a career-high 14 games.
The defense should still be suspect, but gamers should be able to score some points with the Cowboys.
