According to Chicago Tribune Chicago Blackhawks columnist, Chris Kuc, the Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with Calder Trophy finalist Kris Versteeg. The exact money value is not know yet but we do know that it will be a three year deal.
Versteeg was a tremendous surprise for the Chicago Blackhawks last season as he posted 22 goals, 33 assists, and plus/minus rating of plus-15. Although Versteeg had a very good regular season, he struggled in the post season.
He was able to score in the playoffs but had a difficult time with turnovers and loss of concetration at times on the ice.
Now the challenge that Dale Tallon faces is getting his team under the salary cap and regaining the flexibility to resign the rest of their core.
With the Blackhawks signing Kris Versteeg, they have avoided any major repercussions from the NHL over mishandled paperwork in regards to their restricted free agents.
