Tiger vs. AK

Tiger comes out on top, yet Hunter Mahan sneaks in in Sunday tying the record 62 set by Kim on Thursday to come in second place.

Quite a feat accomplished by Mahan, considering the Sunday pins are typically the toughest of the week. I wish I could have found him at 20:1 or higher because he is killing it right now.

Congrats to Tiger! Another victory two weeks prior to a major, another trip straight to the Twilight Zone.

Unfortunately all of my favorite players in the John Deere Classic this week, are lower than 20:1 odds. So if you can find ANY if these five guys at 20:1 or higher, please do yourself a favor and TAKE THEM! They are:
1. Kenny Perry
2. David Toms
3. Steve Stricker
4. Zach Johnson
5. Lucas Glover

It's kind of crazy that those five supermen are playing in this event, as the field here is typically a little bit on the weaker side, due to the lower purse it carries. Since my six pack is value rich this week, we may get really lucky and cash a big one. Hopefully we can at least score a T5 with one of the higher odds guys making the week worthwhile.

Before we go there let's run through the traditional Yahoo fantasy selections that I like:

GROUP A will have Kenny Perry (5) starting and the underrated John Senden (10) backing him up

GROUP B will have The always solid Steve Stricker (6) and one of my favs Steve Marino (4) starting while Zach Johnson(5) and the red hot Lucas Glover(9) will back them up. *** Had I not used all of my starts for David Toms already he would be replacing Marino***

GROUP C is going to be led to battle this week by Scott Verplank(8), he will get some backup from my sneaky special of the week, Matt Kuchar(7)

Let's get this show on the road...

No. 1 Scott Verplank

ORLANDO, FL - MARCH 27: Scott Verplank of the USA plays his tee shot at the 7th hole during the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by Mastercard at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge on March 27, 2009 in Orlando, Florida (Photo by David C

I was kind of shocked to see that Verplank was my "number one" guy this week, but as I did my due diligence, I realized that he is deserving of the spot.

He is trending up in his most recent performances and has traditionally faired well here at the TPC Deere Run.

I love the fact that he ranks 4th in driving accuracy, hitting 73.2% of his fairways off the tee. That will be a KEY stat this week.

Scott also is an impressive 19th in GIR % at 68.2% while ranking 8th in scoring average with 69.84 strokes per round.

After absorbing all of this info and letting in seep in, it seemed odd to see him all the way down at 74th in total money earned this year.

Scotty is due for a strong showing, and this track sets up well for him. Sign me up with Scot Verplank this week at 30:1 odds.

No. 2 Steve Marino

DUBLIN, OH - JUNE 04: Steve Marino hits his tee shot on the 15th hole during the first round of the Memorial Tournament at the Muirfield Village Golf Club on June 4, 2009 in Dublin, Ohio. (Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images)

I apologize tho those of you that are sick of me picking this guy, you must be thinking this is getting old.

Please believe me, this guy is VERY close to a win. I thought for sure, he would bag two victories this year, and there is a good chance that very well may still happen.

Marino will have a solid showing (if not three solid showings) over the next month, mark my words.

Marino ranks 9th on tour in GIR % at 68.9% and is 20th in total driving. Steve also obviously has a great Ball Striking rating and ranks 9th in the PGA this year.

That will be important on this track this week.

Do yourself a favor and lay a few bucks down on Steve Marino this week, he is at 40:1 odds.

No. 3 John Senden

HUMBLE, TX - APRIL 04: John Senden of Australia lines up a putt for par on the 6th hole during the third round of the Shell Houston Open at Redstone Golf Club April 4, 2009 in Humble, Texas. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)

Here is another guy, that has been right on the cusp of being in my six pack over the past month, yet has not made an appearance. I think that Deere Run is the track that provides the most opportunity for the tour number one Ball Striker this year.

Senden also ranks 1st in GIR at 71.4% and 5th in total driving.

John may be flying under the radar a bit, but his two T10's in his last five events with no cuts caught my attention.

Did I mention that Johnny Boy won here back in 2006?

No matter how you slice it, John Senden represents great value at 40/1 odds.

No. 4 Matt Kuchar

What I don;t like about Matt is accuracy.

What I DO like about Matt is his scrambling ability. He ranks 4th on tour by saving par off the fairway 67.25% of the time.

Matt also is a great putter, averaging 28.4 putts per round.

I also like the fact that if he is anywhere near the leader board on Sunday, he happens to be 8th on tour in final round scoring at 69.27 strokes.

Matt has played solid this whole year and has made 11 out of 15 cuts, his track record at Deere Run concerns me a little, but his recent play, could make him a surprise worth looking at.

Matt Kuchar is a tempting 50:1 odds this week.

No. 5 Brandt Snedeker

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - APRIL 16: Brandt Snedeker waves to the crowd after making a putt on the 1st hole during the first round of the Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links on April 16, 2009 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. (Photo by Street

I know, I know, it looks like I'm taking some flyers.

I have some instinct kicking in this week, and I have a great feeling about Brandt Snedeker.

His stats are flat our awful, but many people don't realize that this kid has been playing through a painful injury.

Ever had cracked ribs? How about a broken rib?

If you have you know that the last thing on your mind would be swinging a golf club. I guess that is where Brandt is different than us. I love that he has made his last two cuts, and that he placed 5th last week at Tiger's At&T invitational.

I think Snedeker may be back, and could surprise many this weekend. I also love the fact that somehow he has kept his accuracy and still ranks an impressive 24th by hitting 68.6% of his fairways.

I'm taking a chance with Brandt Snedeker this week at 50:1 odds.

No. 6 Carl Petterson

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - MARCH 06: Carl Pettersson chips out of the bunker on the eighth hole during the second round of The Honda Classic at PGA National Resort and Spa on March 6, 2009 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. (Photo by Doug Benc/Getty Images)

This guy is solid every year.

Every year EXCEPT 2009.

I have no idea what has happened here. Is it the yips? Is he hurt? Too much streudel?

Who knows? All I know is that the Swedish Meatball, Carl Petterson is my long shot this week. I just have a weird feeling about him this week.

He is a mere shell of the performer he has been over the past few years, but somehow, I think he may get it done this week if he can make the cut.

I'd love to stat you to death, but I can't find one good thing to say about him, except that he seems like he would be fun to play with.

Just for grins, throw $2 on Carl. After all he is 100/1 odds to win!

No matter who you like, I wish you the best of luck, hit 'em right to left this week, work that draw!
