Yahoo! sports has reported that the Pistons are in talks with the Utah Jazz about a possible trade involving Richard Hamilton and former Duke Blue Devil Carlos Boozer, who decided not to opt out of his contract.

We're begging to see why the Jazz didn't want Boozer to opt out, not because they thought he was a valuable asset to the team, but for trade bait.

The Jazz seem to be more interested with re-signing free agent Paul Millsap than losing Carlos Boozer.

The Pistons had shown interest in signing Boozer, but he didn't opt out.

If this rumored trade does come to fruition, I think this deal favors the Jazz more than Pistons.

Could you imagine the Jazz starting lineup?

It would be Derron Williams, arguably the best pg in the league, and Rip Hamilton in the backcourt with Ronnie Brewer, Paul Millsap, and Mehmet Okur in the frontcourt.

The Jazz averaged 103 points per game last season (just fourth in the Western Conference), but that surely would change while giving the defending champs a run for their money.

As far as the Pistons go, who's going to play center?

Both Carlos Boozer and, newly acquired, Charlie Villanueva are primarily power forwards. Villanueva is 3' taller than Boozer, so he would probably play center, while Boozer would play power forward.

The Pistons' starting lineup would consist of: Rodney Stuckey and Ben Gordon in the backcourt, Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Boozer, and Charlie Villanueva in the frontcourt. Boozer's rebounding ability and inside presence down low would give the Pistons what they desperately need.

Maybe trading Hamilton for Boozer will turn out better than the Billups/Iverson swap, but only time will tell.

In Joe I trust.
